Wood Herron & Evans LLP, the region’s largest Intellectual Property law firm, announces the addition of Charles (“Chip”) H. Brown, III as a firm partner. Mr. Brown joins a team of more than 50 experienced attorneys representing leading companies and individuals in science and industry worldwide.

“Our clients look to us to resolve complex issues and disputes. Chip has a well demonstrated ability to understand and find innovative solutions to those complex challenges. His success as a litigator focusing on intellectual property disputes stems, in part, from his early experience as an industrial engineer for a Fortune 100 company,” said Bob Chambers, senior partner of the firm. “We expect his well-honed litigation skills to be an asset to our team and to our clients.”

Licensed to practice before the US Patent Office, Mr. Brown has a solid foundation for enforcing patent rights and defending against infringement claims.

Most recently, having been tapped to lead improvements in Medicaid fraud detection for the Ohio Auditor of State, he brought his leadership and investigative skills to bear resulting in a four-fold improvement in detection of Medicaid fraud.

Mr. Brown has over 20 years of First Chair experience representing many Fortune 500 companies. He has extensive experience representing clients in complex commercial and technology disputes in areas such as juvenile products, synthetic fuel technology, beverage packaging, post-operative warming blankets, and fuel nozzle technology. Mr. Brown has resolved hundreds of disputes prior to litigation or trial resulting in reduced legal costs and corporate risks. Over the course of his career, he has achieved 100% success in injunction hearings; and the cases he has handled have resulted in more than a dozen reported opinions.

Mr. Brown earned his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from the College of William and Mary. He is co-author of the Patent Local Rules for the Southern District of Ohio.

He is a long time resident of Wyoming where he and his wife, Donna, have raised two sons. Mr. Brown is an elder in his church and has been active in scouting for many years.
