David is a Partner in the firm’s Biotech and Chemical/Materials Science Practice Group and his practice is concentrated on patent prosecution and patentability, infringement, and validity evaluation in the areas of biology, biotechnology, immunology, genomics, pharmaceuticals, and biomedical devices.  Admitted to the Ohio bar in 1998 and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio in 1999, David is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. 

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Earlham College in 1992, and a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from Northwestern University in 1993. Following graduate school, he continued research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, the primary teaching hospital for Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, where he was published as co-author of a study of gene rearrangements in diffuse large cell lymphoma. He then obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law (Bloomington, Indiana) in 1998.
 
Based on voting by his peers, David has consistently been named a Leading Lawyer in the specialty of Biotech Law by Cincy Business Magazine.

David is an active member of the Ohio and Cincinnati Bar Associations, American and Cincinnati Intellectual Property Law Associations, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He serves on the Intellectual Property Alumni Advisory Board to the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, and is also an adjunct professor at Salmon P. Chase College of Law (Northern Kentucky University). He resides in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife, Renee, and their son, Christopher.
